Descripción
At the Néstor Álamo Museum you will have a unique opportunity to understand and enjoy the evolution of the history of music in the Canary Islands and to visit inside one of the traditional houses in the historic centre of Santa María de Guía.
The visit offers a journey from those sounds created by the indigenous people some two thousand years ago to those that are now heard in all corners of the archipelago, stopping at all those influences that shaped our music and culture.
This discourse takes place through the different rooms of a stately building from the 17th century and, of course, having as its common thread the figure and work of the versatile Néstor Álamo, who also dedicated a large part of his life to research, the recovery of traditions, and ultimately to disseminate the history and culture of Gran Canaria.
If you want to know in depth the figure of Néstor Álamo or not miss a detail of the evolution of music in the Canary Islands, the Néstor Álamo Museum offers guided tours for groups, which also, and in collaboration with the Tourist Information Office, can be complemented with a visit to the church of Santa María de Guía or a tour of the historic quarter.
The museum also has a shop where you can buy musical works by Néstor Álamo or various bibliographies on the artist, among other musical works or books related to Canarian popular culture.
Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday: 10 AM to 4 PM
Saturdays: 10 AM to 2 PM
