Casa de Los Quintana

This is one of the most emblematic buildings within the historical complex of Santa María de Guía. Its original factory dates from the 16th century, and the first mayor of Guía lived there. It stands out above all for its façade in the traditional style of the Gran Canarian front and for its old Canarian-Mudejar style balcony.

The house known as Casa de los Quintana is a building from the s. XVI, although its façade was reformed in the 17th century. In it stand out the stonework and the covered Canary-Mudejar wooden balcony. The coat of arms of the surnames Quintana and Guanarteme (the family that owned the house in the 17th century) also stands out in the portico. Inside, original elements from the 16th century are still preserved, such as an ogee arch.

The first mayor of the Villa lived here in the 16th century, Mr. Fernando Alonso de la Guardia (proclaimed mayor in 1526 after the segregation of Gáldar). In the 17th century it became the home of Mr. Gonzalo de Quintana, to whom it owes its current name. This tenant reformed the façade, specifically the portico where the stone padding that it currently presents and the coat of arms of his family were added.
